Seeking Direction

Lately, I have been seeking direction for my future. And these lyrics keep coming to mind as something I need to remember. In the words of a trusted pastor, family friend & mentor, "God always leaves room for faith." From my song, "If You Died Tomorrow":

God doesn't give us the whole picture,
Just the next step of the way.
He doesn't give us the whole sentence,
Just the next word we're to say.
God doesn't call us to move mountains,
Just to have the faith to pray.
God doesn't call us to change people,
He calls us to obey.

I have been realizing that I often seek God with a purpose, wanting to get answers from Him. But I don't often just spend time worshiping Him. I need to get to know You better, God. I am sorry that I often come to You with an agenda. Please teach me to worship You in spirit and in truth. Please teach me to listen.

Spontaneous Poem: Warrior Healer God

God is Holy
God is Just
Pure and Worthy
Of our Trust

God is Faithful
God is Love
Sent His Spirit
Like a Dove

On His Son, Immanuel
Spotless One, with man to dwell

He saw the sick, the foolish and the wise
The hypocrite who lived in compromise
He saw the jewels, a tomb to disguise
He saw the hearts, through divine eyes.

Upon Himself our sins did take
His death as payment was enough
A bruised reed He will not break
A smoking fire He will not snuff

Warrior God risen with power
Burning with righteous wrath
Before Him evil workers cower
And scatter in His path

Yet with healing hands He reaches
With compassion for each soul
With words of truth He teaches
To restore and make them whole

His Name is above all Names

His Name is Jesus,
His Name is Jesus.

He is Jealous for you.

We are Weak, but He is Strong

So weak.

Falling to anxiety,
Giving in to fear,
Fooled by human piety,
Hurting those so near.

Not listening, but saying,
Serving judgment more than grace,
Thinking more than praying,
Putting others in their place.

Who are we to criticize?
Who are we to speak?
How long until we realize
That we are just as weak?

Oh Jesus, change your children,
Guard us from the lies,
Humble us and show us
We are equal in Your eyes.

"
13 For judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." James 2:14
