The Calm Before the Journey

She brushes the hair out of her eyes and begins to type on her keyboard. The room she is in is warm, the sun out the window bright, with delicate lilacs in view. It is early afternoon, and the circumstances are calm. The family cat insists on interrupting her train of thought to purr and rub against her face before climbing onto her knee contentedly. But her mind is not on the ordinary school room in which she sits.

Today is the day? It is hard to believe that in four hours she will be leaving for the biggest trip of her life. What will they want to hear? What will the friends and family who read this post be curious about? They will want to know if she is packed yet, and she is, mostly. But she wants to go through everything one more time to double check. And she wants to have a shower and.. grr, the cat sits on her keyboard to get her attention again. So many things have already be done in preparation, but there are other things she wishes she had done more of. Like learning about the Philippines. And studying Tagalog. And spending more time with friends. But alas! She must make the most of the time she has left.

So, in anticipation and excitement she signs off her first post, asking those who read it to send up prayers that she will have protection, physical strength for the trip (that will take about 26 hours from the first flight's take off until she arrives at the International airport in Manila), and most of all that she will constantly talk to Jesus and have a servant's attitude. You don't know how much she appreciates your support!
